Our Research

Research has indicated that there are major barriers to STEM achievement across all levels of education that must be addressed. Dr. Ragusa and her research team focus on addressing a goal of improving STEM college and career pathways and students’ academic success in STEM fields.  Through her research and numerous federally funded projects, Dr. Ragusa has found that when students see the benefits of a STEM career and believe that they can thrive they can succeed in STEM fields. This requires mentorship from faculty and peers, motivation, engaging supported instruction with proven methods of pedagogical support, teaching updated curriculum with an emphasis on successful completion, supported by contextualized instruction, tutoring, and a community of learners.  This research has been tremendously impactful and has great potential for national and international prominence in STEM college and career preparedness.
